Privacy Policy
Piqsy, by tinygoodtimes · Effective date: [TODO: founder: effective date]
The short version
- Piqsy is for people 13 and up. If you're younger, the app won't let you sign up.
- We collect only what the game needs: your first name, birthday, phone number, the friends you pick, and your answers.
- When people pick you, you see totals like "4 people picked you". We never show or sell who picked you.
- We never read your whole contact list. We only get the people you choose, and we store their phone numbers scrambled (hashed), not readable.
- No ads. No ad tracking. We don't sell your data.
- You can delete your account anytime in the app. It's gone right away.
Who we are
Piqsy is made by Sortiary LLC, a New York limited liability company ([TODO: founder: mailing address]), under its tinygoodtimes brand ("tinygoodtimes", "we", "us"). Questions? Email [TODO: founder: contact email].
What we collect about you
- Sign in with Apple. Apple gives us an ID for your account. We ask Apple for your name only, not your email.
- First name. Your friends on Piqsy see it.
- Date of birth. We use it only to check that you're old enough. Nobody else sees it, and you can't change it later.
- Phone number. You verify it with a text message code. It's required. We use it to sign you in, keep your account secure, and connect you with friends who picked you before you joined. Our sign-in provider stores it, and nobody else on Piqsy can see it.
- Your picks. For each answer: the question, who you picked, and when.
- How you use the app. Basic events like "finished signing up", "answered a poll", or "shared an invite". We store these in our own database to understand what works. We don't use outside advertising or tracking tools. [TODO: founder: if we add a crash reporter, name it here]
What we store about your friends
You add friends by choosing them from Apple's contact picker or by typing a name. Piqsy never gets your full address book. It only gets the people you tap.
- We save the person's name as it appeared in the picker or as you typed it. Only you see that name on your list.
- We save their phone number(s) only as a hash: a one-way scrambled code made with a secret key that stays on our servers. We never store the real number. We use the hash to connect your picks to that person if they join, and to stop you from picking yourself.
- If nobody with that number joins within 90 days of the most recent time someone picked them, we delete the hash and keep only the name.
- We never text, email, or contact your friends. Invites go out only when you send them yourself from your phone.
Not on Piqsy but think we have your info? Email us and we'll help remove it.
Who can see what
- Your picks: the person you picked sees a total (like "4 people picked you as best advice"), not that it was you. We never sell or reveal who voted.
- Possible future "Match": if two people pick each other, we may show both of them the match. That's the only way someone could learn you picked them, and it only happens when it's mutual.
- Invites: if you send an invite, your friend knows it came from you, because you sent it. The link has a random code that can't be guessed. It doesn't say which question you picked them for.
- There are no public profiles, no messaging, and no location.
Who we share data with
We don't sell your data or share it for advertising. We use a few service providers to run Piqsy, and they handle data only for us:
- Supabase: database and sign-in ([TODO: founder: confirm US region])
- [TODO: founder: SMS provider, likely Twilio]: sends your verification code
- [TODO: founder: web hosting, likely Vercel]: hosts our website and invite links
- Apple: Sign in with Apple and app distribution
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.
Kids under 13
Piqsy isn't for kids under 13. We ask for your birthday before creating any account. If you're under 13, we don't create one, and your device remembers the result so you can't just try again. If we find out someone under 13 has an account anyway, we delete it. Parents, if you think your child is using Piqsy, email us.
Deleting your account
In the app, go to Home → gear icon → Delete account. It happens right away and can't be undone. We permanently delete your account, profile, friend list, and picks. We also delete any hashes of your phone number from other people's friend lists. The name a friend typed for you may stay on their list. [TODO: founder: say whether backups exist and how long deleted data lasts in them]
How long we keep things
We keep your data until you delete your account. The only exception is friends' phone hashes, which we delete after 90 days if nobody with that number joins (see above).
Your choices and rights
You can delete your account anytime. Depending on where you live (for example California), you may have rights to see, correct, or delete your information. Email us to use them. We won't treat you differently for asking. [TODO: founder: legal review of state-law wording]
Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and hashing to protect your data. No system is perfect, but we work to keep your data safe.
Changes
If we change this policy in a big way, we'll let you know (for example, in the app) before the changes take effect.
